The Main Events
Esquisses talk by Lynn Kozak: “Queering the family from Homer to Hannibal”.
When: Wednesday, March 30, 2016, 12:30 – 2:00 pm
Where: Institute for Gender, Sexuality and Feminist studies, Seminar Room, 3487 Peel Street
Lynn Kozak is a Professor at the Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University. She works primarily on the Iliad, Thucydides, Greek tragedy, and Plato, with broader interests in the reception and production of Greek performance texts, modern comparative texts, and critical theories. Recent work includes contributions to The Oath in Archaic and Classical Greece Project at the University of Nottingham, a forthcoming monograph, “Hektor: The Experience of Character in the Iliad”, and the production of a performance of the Iliad books 21 and 22. Prof. Kozak is the organiser of the annual McGill Classics Play, a member of the Quebec Drama Federation and the Freestanding Room Artists’ Collective, as well as the co-founder and co-artistic director (with Carina de Klerk) of Oimoi Productions, providing many students with mentorship and creative opportunities to work with Classical texts and performance within the broader Montreal community.

LAUNCH // Historical Discourses – Volume XXX.I

Historical Discourses is an annual open-accessed peer-reviewed undergraduate academic journal based out of McGill University. It serves as a scholarly forum for undergraduate students at McGill to critically engage with a range of intellectual and public debates through historical inquiry.
Join us on April 8th at 6pm at ARTS 160 ((swanky)) for a wine and cheese to celebrate the launch of volume XXX.I of Historical Discourses! Meet the editors, authors, and students who have made publication possible, and pick up a FREE copy of the journal!!
