Hey everyone!!! Add-drop season is almost over and fall is around the corner. Here’s to having summer last a while longer. Enjoy the sun and the heat with the rest of the week!! (Sorry for the rhyme, I may have had a little too much time…sorry). 😉

Welcome Back Event

Hi everyone! I Since summer is over and you’re historian apprenticeships – sorry classes – have started, the HSA would love to give you our official welcome back this FRIDAY September 23rd!!

“After a long summer full of relaxation, the Political Science, International Development Studies, Economics, History, Department of English, and Sociology Students’ Associations invite you to have drinks on us at St. Sulpice, meet some new friends, and party like it’s 1989!

Did we mention drinks on us? Between 9:30pm-10:30pm, so make sure you get here earlier rather than later ;)”

Come out and meet some amazing people! This is a great chance to explore a little bit of Montreal if it is your first year, and if not to hang out and have fun with both old and new friends.

HSA will be selling tickets for $3 this week during office hours. Come by Leacock 629 to get your tickets and meet your exec!

Historical Discourses: Call for Editor Submissions

Historical Discourses, The McGill Undergraduate Journal of History is looking for 2 gems determined to edit the best undergraduate journal of all time (maybe)! As editors-in-chief, you will lead the editorial board for the selection and editing of papers, organize fundraising events and work closely with the executive of the History Student’s Association to publish the 2017 edition of the journal. Anyone who is interested in history is encouraged to apply. Visit our website to have more information and consult previous editions.

  • A cover letter indicating your interest in the position and your areas of interest in history

  • Your CV

  • A writing sample (history papers are an asset)

Filosophie UQAM: “Culture of the Earth, Culture of the Self, Cultures of the World”

For the occasion of its 17th conference, Filosophie is receiving Joëlle Zask (Université de Provence) as a guest speaker.

The conference will be held on September 23rd at 13h00 in the department of Philosophy of UQAM room W-5215.

Middle East Studies Journal: Editor recruitment

Become an Editor of the McGill Journal of Middle East Studies
If you enjoy reading about the Middle East and Islam, or are looking to showcase your writing, editing, and graphic design skills on an exciting editorial team, then the McGill Journal of Middle East Studies wants you! The journal is a yearly student-run publication that features an interdisciplinary blend of academic and photographic essays. No prior editing experience is necessary, though editors should possess strong writing and critical analysis skills. To apply, email your CV, cover letter, and a brief writing sample (no more than 1000 words) to mejournal@gmail.com by Friday, September 30th.
