The Preamble
Good morning everyone,
Second, I’d like to share a tip with you guys: to see what classes are being offered next year before they appear on Minerva, go to thedepartment course calendar and click on whichever class you’re interested in. If the blurb contains Terms: Fall 2015 or Winter 2016, it is happening. Here is the schedule for registration dates. Because Minerva is an antiquated relic/UNESCO Heritage Site originally used by fourteenth-century knights to sign up for the Crusades, I would suggest organizing your schedule in advance and waking up early the day of registration before the system inevitably crashes. Okay, sorry for being long-winded, here’s what’s happening this week:
The Museum of Jewish Montreal—a not-for-profit organization that collects, maps, and shares the history of Canada’s oldest Jewish community—is seeking 4 qualified students to participate in our summer Research Fellowship program. Beginning May 11th and running through August 30th, the program is designed to help university students interested in pursuing museum careers acquire the skills they will need to work successfully in the cultural and heritage sectors. Participants will gain professional experience in curating exhibits, conducting research, and leading guided tours around the city in either English or French. Responsibilities will include: developing new content for the Museum’s website, collecting oral history testimonies, animating tours for diverse audiences, and engaging in weekly seminars designed to further participants’ knowledge of Canadian and Jewish history/cultural heritage and contemporary museum practices.
I’ve attached the PDF of the job posting to the e-mail.
